One of the most popular black singers of the ‘60s captured here on his first visit to the UK in September 1965 to promote his hit ‘In the Midnight Hour’ followed up by ‘Mustang Sally’, ‘Land of 1,000 Dances’ and in 1969 ‘Hey Jude’.

On February 8th 1990, Charles Westover shot himself in the head. With him died the hopes, dreams and artistry of Del Shannon. According to his wife he was a physically healthy man, who died violently after taking Prozac for only 15 days after contracting a serious sinus infection.
